Okay, my hosting subscription has expired and I want to find a new home for my personal blog. I could just keep using the WordPress instance I installed at Ikoula a few years ago, but it’s more fun to change platforms from time to time… I started my blogging life in 2002 with Greymatter (“the original opensource weblogging software” says Wikipedia), then migrated to Movable Type, (you can tell I was a Perl fanatic back then) and then to WordPress on Windows in 2008. Time for something new!
Of course, I could go to a Cloud provider like Windows Azure or even Amazon, set up my own thing (WordPress again?) or maybe something more modern, maybe based on Ruby (Mephisto?), or even write myself something shiny using the latest technologies, how about some Node.js with a MongoDB backend?
Or I could be lazy and just move on to tumblr.
Well, I’ll think about it, and in the meantime I’ll start looking for migration tools to move my old WordPress content in here :-)
